Hey, old, moss-covered, long-in-the-tooth Cammie!
Do you remember ICC ten years ago?
You do?
Really?
Got some stories to share?
How about nine years past? Seven? Five? Two? Got stories about any of those?
Epitaph wants to hear them. Epitaph wants to publish them. And of course, it's worth prestige!
Write an article about ICCs in the past...from ICC 2005 back to ICC 1996...and it can be worth up to 30 National prestige.
We want articles about past ICCs for the currently-in-production of Epitaph, which is celebrating "Endings and Beginnings".
Please send them to me at shadowdwellr@yahoo.com
Also, please feel free to send this request to any and all local or regional lists. I know some of you have super stories about past ICCs. Let's hear them.
Now's the time to share!

I posted this last week in the Camarilla LJ Community and received some very good responses, so good in fact that I wanted to repost it here to see if there were any additional suggestions from members that might read this journal and not the Camarilla community.
============================================================= If you could make one suggestion to improve an aspect of the Camarilla what would it be?
I am currently in the process of assembling a series of suggestions from members for areas where White Wolf and the Camarilla can improve the administrative, gaming and social aspects of the organization.
If you would like to contribute a suggestion for this project, please email me directly at clubdirector@white-wolf.com. When submitting your entry, please be sure to include an explanation of how this change would improve the club.
Thank you for your input.

Chicago, The crossroads of the nation is once again the host to NEGLECT.
June 2 - 5 Chicago
Pre-Registration $25.00 After May 22nd $35.00
"The Undiscovered Country...
The land that's always just over the horizon. Sometimes we think of it as a paradise, the place where all our dreams come true. But in the World of Darkness, not all dreams are pleasant....
In the shadowy society of *Requiem*, inhuman monsters plot acts to advance their causes with callous disregard for those around them. Each secret, each new truth unearthed is a tool to advance one's goals, or a weapon to destroy one's enemies. Vampiric society, arisen from a murky past to a present in which ancient secrets can be more deadly than any blade.
In the world of spirit and soul, flesh and bone of the *Forsaken*, we will learn a new land, exploring a place that we may never have seen before- in a new world, and inside ourselves.
In the cities and glades we know so well, we find ourselves lost; the world is different when covered in the snows of Winter. Places that a *Changeling* once knew so well may not be the same any longer, and new allies may have to be found in unexpected ways.
In the steel and glass towers of the Technocracy and the mad mindscapes of the Marauders, a jaded *Mage* may have found much, and even think they've seen it all. But the end promises more... and no one has seen what lands lie beyond Ascension. Heaven? Hell? Or something else entirely, not merely unknown, but unknowable? Only a few will be able to find out for themselves.
NEGLECT 2005- Do you have the cleverness, the capability, and the courage to master... The Undiscovered Country?
Join us for Requiem (one night of soft role-play and two more of full-scale skullduggery!); Forsaken (the newest venue!); Changeling (Winter in the Windy City!); and Mage.
All of this and more at NEGLECT, June 2-5 in Chicago!"

It's time, the time to submit to the Epitaph! The next issue's theme will be "Endings and Beginnings", to reflect the end of the old chronicle and the beginning of the new one.
Let's get those fertile, febrile thoughts into print, have fun doing it, and get national prestige as frosting on the cake.
Do you have a story? A poem? Some artwork? Are you still mulling over the last event you went to, and wishing everyone could experience the cool things that happened there? Did you take pictures? Send those things to us so that everyone can share them.
Currently we are looking for Affiliate/Regional Correspondents to collect and forward articles, but there is a deadline approaching for the next Epitaph, and we don't want to miss it...so for now, send them to chenayas@gmail.com
As for the contest?
ep7i7taph n. 1. An inscription on a tombstone in memory of the one buried there. 2. A brief literary piece commemorating a deceased person.
Pretty accurate, isn't it? From the Requiem standpoint at least...because aren't all those wonderful characters we create deceased persons? And the ones we explored for so long in the World of Darkness...they were deceased persons as well.
There were a lot of them too...and they all died for good at the end of the last chronicle. Died in ways that were tragic and horrible and redeeming and damning and uplifting and sorrowful and joyful and...and...well you know the adjectives better than *I* do...after all, they were your alter-egos...the tiny pieces of your psyche that floated to the top to find life as a character you played and loved. You remember them fondly...and it would be fun for others to remember them, too. They deserve epitaphs. And that has led to a contest.
Send an epitaph that you've created for your departed character...for your friend's departed character...heck, even for a character that was an enemy who you may have helped to "put away". These epitaphs will appear on the cover of and inside the next issue...on tombstones, so keep them fairly brief.
All throughout history, cemeteries have been full of witty, sad, poignant epitaphs. Some take the form of poetry, some prose, some simply crude nods to the dead. Give your creative imagination free-rein, and send them to us. All submissions will be judged by the Epitaph staff, and one winner chosen from among them.
Not only are the submissions worth prestige, but the winner will have an article telling the story of her character and concept and how she died along with a submitted picture of said character published in a future edition of Epitaph. And if that's not enough, he will also get a special, signed copy of his choice of one of the new Requiem books!
So send in your Epitaph/epitaph submissions now!
Below are the guidelines for submissions:

Hello everybody,
White Wolf has asked Alex T. to come on-board as our Mind's Eye Theatre developer in a freelance capacity. He'll also work as a liaison between the Club and other parts of White Wolf in addition to being the Camarilla's Master Storyteller.
The MET Rules for WoD and Requiem are currently being finalized for a July release. Some delays have occurred because White Wolf has been very concerned to ensure that the MET rules match the Club's needs. We believe that our current steps will make sure that the Camarilla has the material it needs to truly shine.
If you have any questions, please address them to camstoryteller@ white-wolf.com.

Many thanks to Dan Wright for this email originally posted to the Coordinators list providing information on the donations for the Tsunami Relief Effort.
======================================================= In the midst's of the game we play, there are sometimes where reality comes first. Yesterday, a massive 9.0 earthquake hit southern Asia. They are estimating the death toll at over 21,000 dead.
The International Red Cross has asked for donations of all kinds. Money helps most, but anything will do. There are thousands in need of relief. I know that this is after Christmas, and many of us have spent what we had to pay for gifts for friends and family, but I ask that you dig deep and donate anything you can.

White Wolf Names Will Hindmarch Line Developer of “Vampire: The Requiem,”
Justin Achilli Editing & Development Manager
Atlanta, GA, November 18, 2004 — White Wolf Publishing today announced an important staff change with Justin Achilli becoming Editing & Development Manager and Will Hindmarch succeeding Achilli as Line Developer for Vampire: The Requiem. Achilli had been Developer and Intellectual Property Manager for Vampire: The Masquerade since 1998 and spearheaded the creative development of its successor property, Vampire: The Requiem. Requiem launched this past August to great acclaim. “I enjoyed a six-year run developing Vampire,” said Achilli. “The new World of Darkness is a perfect place to let a developer with a fresh set of ideas take the reins.” As Vice President of Editing & Development, Achilli will oversee the development of new intellectual properties and the editorial portion of product development. Taking the helm of White Wolf’s flagship product line is Will Hindmarch. “Will is a veteran of Vampire writing,” said Achilli, “and I know his vision and panache will suit the game well.” In addition to writing credits for White Wolf (including Victorian Age: Vampire and Kindred of the Ebony Kingdom), Hindmarch has done extensive writing and development for Fantasy Flight Games and Atlas Games. Said Hindmarch, "The passion and enthusiasm that's been put into Vampire by all its writers and artists has a momentum all its own. My plan is to maintain that level of quality by following Justin Achilli's original trajectory on the line. I've followed Vampire as a player, as a fan, and as a writer, so my expectations for the game are as high as anyone's; I've never been so excited to have such hard work to do."

As promised this is the transcript from the White Wolf Q&A session that took place at ICC in October.
I want to thank Chris Buser for assembling these highlights of the Q&A session. He was able to take extensive notes during the session and I appreciate him taking the time to organize them as I could not keep notes myself during the session. I have taken the liberty of updating some of the answers to reflect changes that have occurred since ICC.

I am compiling a list of conventions for 2005 that Camarilla members would be attending and might be interested in Demoing either LARP or Tabletop at the event. These should be the smaller conventions that normally are not attended by White Wolf, but do have attendees that play in or are interested in the World of Darkness games.
One of the projects that I have been assigned in the coming year is to work with our Conventions person to expand the Camarilla presence in both Tabletop and LARP, to do this we will be firming up the support of those shows that we do not normally attend by assisting Camarilla groups with Demo materials and prize support.
To submit a convention for consideration of inclusion with the list please send an email including the following information to clubdirector@white-wolf.com.
Convention Name: Date: Location: Convention Contact Name: Convention Contact Email: Website: Tabletop Venue: LARP: Camarilla Contact Name: Camarilla Contact Email:
Once we have firmed up the initial shows that we will be working with I will post more information on how to add additional conventions to the list and what Demo and Prize support will be provided.

The freeform structure that is the keystone of the next chronicle is a blessing and a curse. A blessing in that it gives the storytellers and players much more leeway in how they want to see the clan/covenant grow and invests those that take part with a sense of ownership in the new chronicle. The curse being that the freeform nature gives rise to heated discussions of how things should/must be for the clan/covenant. In the oWOD, love it or hate it the canon material gave a template for how the clans and societies were established, that vision came from at most 5-10 people in the development department and thus while not a deep as some players would have liked, it was a standard idea on which characters might be created and portrayed.
In reviewing the first new releases for Requiem, there is little to no materials on how to play a clan/covenant, there are suggestions of what a typical setup in a city might be, but that in the end will be left up to the players/ST's to decide. In the nWOD, that vision is now spread out over 10 nations and thousands of members. We are seeing how the initial baby steps in establishing this new continuity is going and I am really impressed with all of the hard work and thought that is being put into this by all of those on this and other lists.
Please remember that the clan/covenant lists do not encompass all of those that will end up playing characters even in the first flight of character creation, not to mention those that come later. It can however become more representative as more players are encouraged to join and participate in the process. So please don't take it too personally when policies established on any of the clan/covenant lists need to be examined by the ST chain to insure that it will work well for the wider audience of members playing in the chronicle.
The biggest challenge that comes from this new mindset is that when a new player comes into the game they are not going to have the benefit of a Splat book to help them get the feel of character dynamics. That is going to rest very firmly on the existing players and offers an excellent opportunity to recapture something that many have said is lost in the organization, the sense of community. Mentoring new characters can lead to mentoring players, developing new friendships and regaining that feel of community that made the organization fun.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Kelley Barnes-Herrmann for all of her hard work in the position of National Conventions Administrator. Kelley has done a great amount of work both behind the scenes and in front of the camera for conventions at all levels of the organization during her tenure in office.
Kelley will be stepping up to join my staff of volunteers as ACD Special Events, which will include planning ICC, GenCon, Origins and other events as needed.
Stepping into the spotlight as the new National Conventions Administrator is Angela Rexwinkle. Angela is from the South Central Region and previously was one of Kelley's staff members so she is familiar with the operations of the conventions office.
Joining Angela on the Camarilla Council will be Sarah Heffron. Sarah will be assuming the duties of National Finance Administrator. Sarah's first duties will be to work with the Regional Officers to develop budgets.

The Camarilla has been given an opportunity to participate in the Midnight Launch Parties that will be occurring next Friday. We have been asked to assist in running demo Tabletop games at as many of the participating stores as possible.
If your chapter or individuals would like to participate in this it is simply a matter of contacting the store near you and inquiring if they currently have a group scheduled to demo Requiem. If they do not and your chapter volunteers to demo the games send an email to clubdirector@white-wolf.com and I will send you a link to download the Demo materials.
This event will be awarding National Prestige and at least one copy of the new World of Darkness and Requiem books to each group participating in the Launch Party.
To receive the Prestige and books, your group will need to submit a letter from the participating retailer stating how many demos were conducted during the Party. Additionally photos from your event should be included in the report.
This will also be a great opportunity to recruit new members into the organization in both the Tabletop and LARP games. Recruitment material is available upon request for those groups that do not have it.

I know many of you who can will be coming to GenCon, but below is a list of stores in the US and Canada holding special midnight release parties for Vampire: The Requiem and the World of Darkness Rulebook. As you know, everyone here at White Wolf has been working very hard toward this launch, which is the biggest thing in our RPG division's history and has created a great deal of fan excitement.
The retailers below have invested goodly amounts of time and money to support this launch and White Wolf in general, and that makes them fertile ground for VTES support as well. I'd encourage princes and other VTES players to attend these events and help makes these midnight releases a great success. Most shops will be happy to have you run demos that evening, or (if that isn't possible for logistical reasons) do some recruitment. These parties will be full of hungry White Wolf fans, what better time to recruit?
Even if you can't -- because you're at GenCon, say -- I'd suggest targeting these retailers for future events. These shops are all stepping up to clearly announce that they are of the latter category, and that means both that I want to support them in as many ways as possible.
For those of you going to GenCon, here are the party details:

Vampire: The Eternal Struggle® Adding Online Play
Atlanta, GA, August 12, 2004 — White Wolf Publishing formally announced today its collaboration with CCG Workshop, LLC to bring the Vampire: The Eternal Struggle collectable card game to online play.
Development has already begun to port the #1 multiplayer CCG over to online play. “Vampire’s graphical and strategic intensity are a good work-out for our development staff. We aspire to bring over as much dark flavor and feel as possible into the online adaptation, and look forward to inviting VTES players in for beta-testing later this year," said Ed Mittelstedt, president of CCG Workshop.
Online VTES will be hosted on its own dedicated server accessed through White Wolf’s website or CCG Workshop’s website. Normal pick-up games as well as organized online tournaments are all planned, with White Wolf providing real world prize support for the tournaments.
“Vampire’s player community literally spans the world from Singapore to Prague to LA. We’re looking forward to hosting some exciting international events and tournaments using the online platform,” said Steve Wieck, White Wolf’s VP of Card Games. There will be a nominal monthly cost for play which will give players access to all of the active cards. Initially all cards from the Camarilla Edition set will be available for play with more expansions added after launch. Online players will be able to construct and save decks, as well as share them with other players.
Vampire: The Eternal Struggle celebrates its tenth anniversary this year. Days of Fire Burns Up the Internet
Albany, NY, August 9, 2004- Striker Books today announced that after printing delays, Yves Darra's much-anticipated 'Days of Fire' is now shipping to booksellers. The book will feature some of the highest quality paper you will find in a coffee table book.
"In June, someone stole a printing proof copy of the book, and it made its way onto the internet. It has seen an unprecedented number of downloads in that time," says Gretta Striker, publisher of Striker Books. "We always knew this was a fine work, containing beautiful art and brilliant verse. Yves Darra's translation is a masterwork that should hopefully erase previous, poorly translated versions of this text from the minds of scholars."
Across the internet, talk of this book has linked it to the recent revelations of vampires in our midst. Correlations between the 'Blood King' of 'Days of Fire' and the apocryphal antecedents to modern vampires have been numerous. Further, some allege that this work presents a "true story" of the Fall of Lucifer. Recent events have lead to an increased interest in the subject.
Striker Books makes no claim as to the veracity of the information presented in 'Days of Fire'. "Certainly there have been some interesting parallels between recent world events and events detailed in the text, says Gretta Striker. "However, I would be quick to caution a would-be reader that this is far from some apocalyptic primer. This is a masterful work of epic poetry and owes far more to the Illiyad than to the Book of Revelations."
In light of the increased interest in the project, Striker Books need to completely alter previously established printing plans. "The printer we were using simply wasn't equipped to handle a print run the size of what we have on our hands with 'Days of Fire'" Striker added, "Since we had to change printers after initial pre-order numbers came through, we decided to go the extra mile and offer the book on premium grade paper at no extra cost to the consumer. It highlights the gorgeous artwork of the book."
"We hope that even those who have downloaded copies of the book will purchase one as well. Yves Darra put his life into this work, and as I stare at the final copy, hot off the presses, I can only say that the finished product is magnificent, and I feel privileged to have stewarded this work into print."
Sadly, Darra never lived to see the interest that his translation has caused. He was murdered by parties unknown in Morocco on April 20 of this year. "It is a fitting legacy to a scholar of Yves' stature that his final work stands to become a best-seller."

Since entering the publishing market in 2001, Striker Books has emerged as a front-runner in introducing the modern world to classic and ancient works. By pairing classic writings and verse with modern artists, Striker Books has produced coffee table books that have brought history to life. The company prides itself on introducing the mainstream to works once relegated to the musty halls of academia.

Page Count Rises on World of Darkness Rulebook $19.99 Price Point Remains for First Printing
Atlanta, GA, July 12, 2004 — White Wolf Publishing today announced that the page count on its highly anticipated August release, the World of Darkness Rulebook has risen to 224 pages, without affecting the retail price for the first print run.
The central book in White Wolf’s all-new contemporary horror setting, the hardcover World of Darkness Rulebook contains all the core rules for the Storytelling System and everything needed for portraying mortal characters in a world of hidden monsters. Major supplements like Vampire: The Requiem (also released in August) build on the main rulebook, providing expanded setting and the rules needed to play supernatural characters. The World of Darkness Rulebook was originally planned for 160 pages, but as the manuscript was refined, it ultimately grew to 224.
“There isn’t an ounce of fat in that book,” said Ken Cliffe, White Wolf’s Vice-President of Editorial & Development. “Those extra 64 pages allowed us to give readers the complete rulebook they deserved. We knew we couldn’t settle for a stripped down summary.”
The first printing of the World of Darkness Rulebook will maintain the solicited $19.99 retail price. “Adding those pages noticeably increases our costs on the book, but we're holding to our $19.99 price point on the initial printing,” explained Mike Tinney, White Wolf’s President. “It was important that we honor that and reward those who have been waiting for months to buy this book on the first day.”
Subsequent printings of the World of Darkness Rulebook will bear a suggested retail price of $24.99. To prevent stocking problems, these printings will bear a different stock number and ISBN, although the contents will be identical.

White Wolf Delays Werewolf: The Forsaken Until February
Atlanta, GA, July 19, 2004 — White Wolf Publishing today announced that it is withholding the release of Werewolf: The Forsaken until February of 2005. It was originally scheduled for November of 2004. The second Storytelling game set in the re-imagined World of Darkness, Werewolf: The Forsaken follows on the heels of the World of Darkness Rulebook and Vampire: The Requiem (releasing August 21st) “All of us have been working flat-out on Vampire,” said Ken Cliffe, White Wolf’s Vice President of Editing and Development “and it became clear to us that with Werewolf set to come out only two and a half months after Vampire, it was at risk of getting second-hand treatment. That wasn’t acceptable.” White Wolf has revealed very little about Werewolf: The Forsaken thus far. “They’ll be some teaser material in the next White Wolf Quarterly,” promised Werewolf developer Ethan Skemp, “and plenty more after that.”

New Line Cinema Options White Wolf’s Vampire: The Requiem for Multi-Picture Deal
Atlanta, GA, July 26, 2004 — White Wolf Publishing has reached an agreement with New Line Cinema to produce a motion picture series based on Vampire: The Requiem. A modern horror game about vampires hidden among the living, Vampire: The Requiem is the flagship property of White Wolf’s World of Darkness contemporary horror universe. New Line, the film company responsible for such blockbusters as the Lord of the Rings trilogy, Seven and the Austin Powers franchise, brings a unique combination of artistic and commercial acumen to the deal. “We’re excited that the company that brought Lord of the Rings to the big screen has taken an interest in our flagship property,” said Mike Tinney, president of White Wolf. “New Line’s creative executives and producer Adam Fields have a great deal of enthusiasm for Vampire and have taken great strides to partner White Wolf with New Line.” Adam Fields, producer of such films as Donnie Darko and Brokedown Palace, has signed on to the project as producer. “Vampire is a unique template for a fantastic movie franchise,” said Fields. “I look at a lot of computer games and roleplaying games, but Vampire and the World of Darkness stand out thanks to their compelling visuals and narrative. I’m very excited by the prospects of the movies and of a future relationship with the talented folks at White Wolf.” Vampire: The Requiem is the newest property in White Wolf’s award winning World of Darkness series of books and games. Although other properties tied to the World of Darkness have been licensed for television series, action figures and video games, this is the first major licensing agreement for White Wolf’s Vampire: The Requiem, which will release as a pen-and-paper roleplaying game this August 21st. White Wolf is represented by the Gersh Agency. Since its entry into the roleplaying game market in 1991, White Wolf Publishing, Inc. has grown, maintaining an average market share of 26%. New World of Darkness Game Line All Hardcover;
White Wolf Limits WoD Releases to Two Books a Month
Atlanta, GA, July 27, 2004 — White Wolf Publishing today unveiled additional details of its publishing plan for the new World of Darkness line. This plan includes an attractive hardcover format for all game books and a smaller overall number of releases. The World of Darkness, launching anew on August 21st with the World of Darkness Rulebook and Vampire: The Requiem, is White Wolf’s flagship game line of contemporary horror roleplaying games. In it’s first incarnation — published from 1991 to early 2004 — the line consisted of many different games, each with hardcover rulebooks and many softcover supplements. “We took a long, hard look at our publishing model and reworked how we deliver books to our customers,” said Mike Tinney, White Wolf’s President. “This started with the creation of a central rulebook for the entire World of Darkness line” — meaning August’s World of Darkness Rulebook — “and continued with the decision to publish fewer, meatier supplements.” Indeed, all roleplaying game supplements for the line will be hardcover books of at least 128 pages (and usually 160 or more). White Wolf plans to publish two of these books for the World of Darkness every month, for a total of 24 roleplaying book releases a year. This total will hold true even once other game lines join Vampire: The Requiem in the World of Darkness, such as the upcoming Werewolf: The Forsaken and Mage: The Awakening. Fiction titles, play aids (dice sets, Storyteller screens) and merchandise items (T-shirts, mousepads) will come in addition to these releases. The Exalted and Sword & Sorcery game lines will continue their established publishing patterns with a blend of hard- and softcover releases.

I have started this journal so that Camarilla members can get an ongoing idea of some of the projects that I am working on as Club Director. It is also a place where members can place their comments about the operation of the club and to make suggestions.
